Thomas Benbow was the son of Richard Benbow & Ann Pugh and was christened 14 Mar 1829.
He joins the army, marries Alice, adopts William Huff and and retires to London as can be seen on the 1871 census:

Thomas and Alice retire to the Isle of Wight according to the 1901 census:
On the next page his niece Rose Benbow (1886) is staying!

Thomas Benbow (1777)
Thomas Benbow was christened in Martley, Worcestershire on 9th Feb 1777. He joined the Coldstream Guards on 21st Feb 1798:
From his service record, he served as a Private for 8 years, he was promoted to a Corporal (3 years) and Serjeant (10 years).
Near the end of his military career he was involved in a court case (see column three after Westminster sessions):
He then appears in London, with his wife Mary on the 1841 & 1851 census:
and dies in 1854:

Kezia Benbow (1901)
Kezia Benbow (1901) was born in West Bromwich to Emma Benbow:
She then appears on the 1911 census, adopted by James and Harriet Smart.
James Smart married Harriet Maria Lawrence on 22 July 1879, but her father's surname was Goodrum.
Harriet was previously married to William Lawrence.
Harriet Goodrum was the daughter of George Goodrum and Hannah Felmingham:
Harriet had a brother called William Robert Goodrum:

Benbow - Huff Line

She married William Frederick Huff in 1890:
William Frederick Huff was the adopted son of Thomas Benbow (1829), Elizabeth's uncle.
They had two children, Daisy Ellen Maud Huff (1891) and Howard William Benbow Huff (1894):
Howard William Benbow Huff (1894) married Lillian Constance Wallis in 1921:

Californian Branch of the Family
Sarah Jane Benbow (1867) was the daughter of Richard Benbow and Kezia Steel.
She married Thomas Savory in 1890:
They had three children Alice Savory (1891), Ernest Savory (1894) and Gladys Savory (1896):
However Thomas Savory died in 1904, and the rest of the family emmigrated to California:
